ASL Allen Speech & Language
Services

Services can be offered in schools, nurseries and homes.

Initial Consultation (100)

All new children will require an initial consultation. This includes;

  • Detailed case history with the child and their parents
  • Full speech & language assessment
  • Discussion of results and future management with parents.

Duration = 60-90 minutes.

Parents will then receive a typed report outlining assessment findings and recommendations. With parent's consent this may be forwarded to other relevant professionals (e.g. GPs, School Staff).

Following the initial consultation the parents and therapist will then discuss what happens next. This could be;

  1. Individual Therapy Sessions (55 per session)
  2. Targets from the initial assessment will be focused upon in these sessions. These will normally be carried out at the child's school/nursery. Following a block of therapy sessions (5-8) there will be a short break and a review appointment to discuss progress and future management.

  3. A Programme to School (50)
  4. A programme and relevant resources will be delivered to school/nursery to be carried out with learning support assistants. Staff will be provided with training/support as required. This will be followed by a review appointment to evaluate the targets set and discuss future management.

  5. Discharge
  6. If it is felt that the child does not need further direct intervention they may be discharged from the service.

Travel

Mileage is charged at 45p per mile from the therapist's base (Tiptree). A supplement may be charged for distances over 30 miles.
